Hill X Rules and Class Regulations

These are rules for Hill X Racing Only.  Unless noted here all general rules for machine and safety found above under “All racing general rules & safety” apply to see Rider safety equipment required & Race number information also see above.

A combination of Snocross and Hillclimb, There will be multiple competitors racing head to head. Racers against racers in a uphill battle. The track should be designed for spectator viewing and television. This should attract sponsors and racers to a new form of racing for the new millennium. Spectators should be able to view the entire race from any viewing area. The hill should be very wide and open to accommodate several racers. The hill should be difficult, but most racers should be able to make it to the top. Several jumps may be built from start to finish. These events will be run in the late winter-early spring, which will make it attractive for racers and spectators. Ski hills are excellent venues for this type of racing.

All classes will be improved stock except for the following:

 Pro Open and Semi-Pro Open will allow full modification of chassis and engine up to 1000ccs.

Sport, Semi Pro, & Pro – All 600 SUPER STOCK classes will be STOCK motor up to 600cc and chassis and follow the Sno X rules of traction.

Preregistration: must be in the office before 12PM the Thursday before the race event. Entries, if accepted after this date, will be assigned a $25 late fee.

Class Structure: MAKE SURE YOU READ THROUGH ALL CLASSES, some classes allow traction, and some DO NOT. Also some classes run to COMPLETION ON SATURDAY & some run to COMPLETION ON SUNDAY.

Below all classes run Saturday and Sunday and traction IS NOT ALLOWED except in Super Stock Classes in Sport, Semi Pro, & Pro. For these 3 classes Sno X rules of traction apply.

LC = Liquid Cooled

All racers will run 4 round robin heats per class. Total points of 3 rounds (will throw out the worst round of 4) will determine the racers in the finals. Finals Ran on SUNDAY

Pro Classes - Pro 600 Super Stock up to 600cc LC stock machines. Pro 600 Improved Stock up to 600cc LC improved stock machines. Pro 700 Improved Stock up to 700cc LC improved stock machines. Pro 800 Improved Stock up to 800cc LC improved stock machines. Pro 900 Improved Stock up to 900cc LC improved stock machines. Pro Open - Open chassis and engine up to 1000cc.

Semi Pro Classes - Semi Pro 600 Super Stock up to 600cc LC stock machines. Semi-Pro 600 Improved Stock up to 600cc LC improved stock machines. Semi-Pro 700 Improved Stock up to 700cc LC improved stock machines. Semi-Pro 800 Improved Stock up to 800cc LC improved stock machines. Semi-Pro 900 Improved Stock up to 900cc LC improved stock machines. Semi-Pro Open - Open chassis and engine up to 1000cc.

Sport Classes - Sport 600 Super Stock up to 600cc LC stock machines. Sport 600 Improved Stock up to 600cc LC improved stock machines. Sport 700 Improved Stock up to 700cc LC improved stock machines. Sport 800 Improved Stock up to 800cc LC improved stock machines. Sport 900 Improved Stock up to 900cc LC improved stock machines. Sport Open Improved Stock up to 1000cc LC improved stock machines.

Hill X 500 LC - 500 Improved Stock up to 500cc LC improved stock machines.

Hill X Fan - up to 600cc fan cooled improved stock machines

Junior Classes -  Junior Transition this is for the Ski Doo Freestyle.  Junior 10-13  up to 600cc fan cooled improved stock machines. Junior 14-17 up to 600cc LC improved stock machines.

Womens Classes - Women's Sport Improved Stock up to 600cc improved stock machines. Women's Pro Improved Stock up to 600cc improved stock machines.

Age Classes – For the age classes there are 30+, 35+, 40+, & 50+ All age classes are Improved Stock up to 800cc improved stock machines.

Jackson X – Jackson X is a specialty class open to all riders.  This is a Improved Stock class up to 800cc.  This class takes it top 3 in points at the end of the season and they get a open invitation to compete in the Jackson Hole Hillclimb the following season.

Hotshot 100 - Is a speciality class open to both Pro and Semi Pro Drivers. 800 Improved Stock up to 800cc LC improved stock machines. 100% payback each weekend. Driver MUST enter 1 other class to race in the Hotshot 100

Big Air – Is a free event at the end of the weekend open to Semi Pro & Pro Drivers.  They can use what ever sled they want to to see who can jump the furthest off of the biggest jump on the course determined by AXM.  Your best jump out of two determines your distance. This is a FREE entry and Cash awards are giving to the top 3 each weekend.  Drivers must race in normal Hill X classes during weekend of event to compete in Big Air. Big Air contest will be held at Giants Ridge & Spirit Mt only as of right now. Open to changing at anytime.

King Of The Hill (KOH)– is a specialty class.  There is no entry fee, this event takes place at the end of the weekend.  To compete in this you must win a final.  If you win a final in your class you are in this event, there are 6 different KOH.  Cash awards are also giving to the winner in each KOH division except I the Pro division it is top 3.  All racers EXCEPT for in the first KOH race (fan sleds & vintage class) can substitute any sled up to 800cc to race if you win a final that is smaller than a 800cc class.  DRIVERS MAY NOT USE ANY SLED LARGER THAN 800cc UNLESS THEY WON A FINAL IN A CLASS LARGER THAN 800cc. KOH will be held at the 1st three events. Open to changing at anytime.

CLASSES BELOW RUN TO COMPLETION ON SATURDAY- Also you CAN use traction in these classes ONLY

All racers will run 2 round robin heats per class. Any LCQ's or Semi Finals will be ran Saturday also along with Finals Ran on Saturday.

Beginner Classes - Beginner 600 Improved Stock up to 600cc LC improved stock machines. Beginner 800 Improved Stock up to 800cc LC Improved Stock machines. If you have raced any form of snowmobile racing with in the last 3 years you may not race in Beginner ( race director can change this rule based on race director's opinion)

Vintage Class – See Rules for this class below under Machine (sled) rules

Womens Trail Class 600 - Up to 600 Improved Stock up to 600cc LC improved stock machines

Trail Classes – This class is for the Trail Riders and machines. There are 2 classes up to 600CC Liquid Cooled Improved Stock, and Up to 800cc Liquid Cooled Improved Stock

Throwback Class - There are 2 classes here Throwback 1 -Improved Stock (open to all sleds built before 1997) & Throwback Class 2 Improved Stock (open to all sleds built between 1997 - 2002, sleds built prior to 1997 can jump up and race in this class also)

80's Retro Class - Improved Stock and open to all machines made in the 80's (you can also jump up into any Throwback Class)

Prizes (Trophy) & Payback

 Sport, Jr & Women Am, Beginner , Hill X Fan, Hill X 500 LC, Vintage, Throwback, 80's Retro, & Trail class are Trophies only.

Age Classes, Semi-Pro , & Womens Pro are 50% payback & Trophies , & Pro is 75% payback and Trophies. Hotshot is 100% Payback

Machine (Sled) Rules

Improved Stock - Sled must be stock appearing and must use stock chassis. Rider may change or alter any of the following: Shocks, skis, tracks, suspensions, hoods, gearing, clutching, carburetion, pipes (must have silencers), chassis, cylinders, pistons and rings. Sled must have a belly pan and clutch guards. ALL SNOWMOBILES MUST BE NATURALLY ASPIRATED.

Open Class - Includes Pro and Semi-Pro Open. Totally open chassis and motor to 1000ccs. Safety features which must be included: Tether cord, belly pan, clutch guard and hoods. Sport Open will be improved stock up to 1000cc. Protective belly pans must be approved by the safety inspector. All under hoods moving parts and protrusions must be enclosed. ALL SNOWMOBILES MUST BE NATURALLY ASPIRATED.

ALL MACHINES MUST HAVE A WORKING TEATHER CORD

Weight - 350 lbs. Minimum dry sled weight.

Tracks - All race sleds may run any commercially available track.

Studs - No studs or screws allowed. Except in following classes Beginner, Trail, Throwback, 80's Retro, Vintage, & Super Stock Classes

Carbides - All runners on skis must be not exceed a snow cross racing runner (except in trail class)

Skis - Any commercially available ski may be used. ALL NON VINTAGE PLASTIC SKIS MUST HAVE A LARGE (THE ACTUAL SKEMATIC WILL BE FORTH COMING) RADIUS WITHIN THE FRONT SKI LOOP. THE LOOP MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE SKI UNDER THE FRONT OF THE SKI.. IF YOUR SKI LOOP DOES NOT COMPLY, YOU MAY WRAP THE SKI LOOP WITH ONE INCH FOAM MATERIAL.

Snow Flaps - ALL NON VINTAGE SLEDS MUST HAVE TIED DOWN SNOW FLAPS MADE OF STIFF MATERIAL. SNOW FLAP MUST TOUCH THE GROUND WITH RIDER ON THE SLED. You will get 1 weekend warning with this. After that warning snowflap must be fixed to abide by the rule for any following race weekends. If not fixed that machine CAN NOT be raced until fixed.

Ski Stance - Minimum 35 inches to 48 inches maximum.

 VINTAGE CLASS - CAN BE ANY SLED THAT HAS A LEAF SPRING FRONT SUSPENSION. ALL PARTS AND COMPONENTS MUST BE STOCK FOR THAT MODEL AND YEAR. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING; TRACK, SUSPENSION-FRONT AND REAR, HOOD, SKIS, SEAT, DRIVE TRAIN AND CARBEURATORS. THE ONLY COMPONENTS THAT MAY BE MODIFIED ARE THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE MOTOR AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALL METAL SKIS IN THE VINTAGE CLASS MUST HAVE 1 INCH FOAM ON THE SKI LOOP OR HANDLE. VINTAGE SLEDS MAY ALSO USE 96 CARBIDE TIPPED STUDS WITH A MAXIMUM 3/8 INCH ABOVE THE NEAREST CLIP OR BAR.
